On Monday, when a football match was going on against Manchester City, Burnley felt extremely ashamed witnessing an airship flying a banner stating “White Lives Matter Burnley” in Etihad Stadium. The moment Manchester City won the match by 5-0, an aeroplane started revolving above the ground while waving the controversial banner.

In defence of this shamefaced act, Clarets skipper Ben Mee said- “Fans like that don’t deserve to be around football, we’re ashamed, we’re embarrassed. It’s a minority of our supporters – I know I speak for a massive part of our support who distance ourselves from anything like that. It definitely had a massive impact on us to see that in the sky.”

Taking the discussion further, Burnley added- the banner “in no way represents” what exactly the club stands for, and they will continue to “work fully with the authorities to identify those responsible and take appropriate action. Burnley strongly condemns the actions of those responsible for the aircraft and offensive banner. We wish to make it clear that those responsible are not welcome at Turf Moor. We apologise unreservedly to the Premier League, to Manchester City and to all those helping to promote Black Lives Matter.”

With this, Burnley disclosed that the club that been working on non-discriminative principles. The club does not work on the basis of religions, genders, and faiths. They have been running the award-winning community scheme and firmly stands against any sort of racism raised in front of them.

By the time the Premium League resumed on 17th June 2020 after a long break of 100 days due to the corona outbreak throughout the globe, all the officials, teams, and players have been showcasing their support for the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement. To add more to the information, the movement started last month when Floyd, 46, an unarmed black man died after a white police officer suppressed Floyd’s neck with his knee for almost nine minutes. Soon, his miserable demise provoked protests throughout the United States.
