One of the finest filmmakers, Rajat Mukherjee, passed away in the wee hours of Sunday due to a long time illness. As per reports, Mukherjee had some kidney-related issues which worsened beyond treatment resulting in the ace filmmaker’s demise.
Rajat Mukherjee passed away in Jaipur.
He was well recognized for his films like- Love in Nepal, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, and Road. The filmmaker was in his late 50s right now.
Indian actor Manoj Bajpayee gave confirmation on the demise of Mukherjee through his Twitter account. He wrote- “My friend and director of Road, Rajat Mukherjee passed away in the early hours today in Jaipur after a long battle with illness!!! Rest in peace Rajat !! Still can’t believe that we will never meet or discuss our work ever again. khush reh jaha bhi reh.” Source: Twitter.
Bollywood movie director Hansal Mehta also tweeted- “Just got news about the passing away of a dear friend. Rajat Mukherjee, director of Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya and Road, was a friend from our early, early struggles in Bombay. Many meals, many bottles of Old Monk consumed.
