Former President Pranab Mukherjee Passed Away During Surgery

On Monday, the former President of India Pranab Mukherjee, 84, died during a surgery. According to reports, Mukherjee was admitted to PR Hospital on 10th August for brain surgery after being found corona positive. 

The news came out and spread a wave of grief throughout the nation. Right from the Bollywood stars to politicians, everyone mourned over the demise of a remarkable personality in the history of Indian politics. 

In the evening, late. Mukherjee’s son Abhijit Mukherjee tweeted and shared the news with the world. 

He tweeted- “With a Heavy Heart , this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away in spite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers ,duas & prarthanas from people throughout India ! I thank all of You 🙏” Source: Twitter. 

Soon after this, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi tweeted – “India grieves the passing away of Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee. He has left an indelible mark on the development trajectory of our nation. A scholar par excellence, a towering statesman, he was admired across the political spectrum and by all sections of society,” Source: Twitter. 

Further, he added- “I was new to Delhi in 2014. From Day 1, I was blessed to have the guidance, support and blessings of Shri Pranab Mukherjee. I will always cherish my interactions with him. Condolences to his family, friends, admirers and supporters across India. Om Shanti,” Source: Twitter. 

On Monday morning the hospital authorities said that they witnessed a sudden decline in Mukherjee’s health condition. Also, he was taken under septic shock due to the severe lung infection, but at last, nothing could save him. 

His last rights are planned to be held in New Delhi on Tuesday.
