IRCTC’s Golden Chariot luxury train is in the process of having a new avatar by the end of the year. It has completed ten years of launch by Karnataka Tourism in the year 2018 and is the only luxurious train that is operating in South India. It was handed over to IRCTC in January 2020, but Karnataka Tourism has retained the ownership of the train, has induced IRCTC, the arm of Ministry of Railways having expertise in tourism, travel as well as hospitality for operating and marketing the Golden Chariot luxury train.
The luxury train travels through the Southern Sector which proposes to travel to different destinations with architectural, historical, mystique and scenic significance enriched with state of the art conveniences on board and the best service standards creating a lifetime and impressionable experience for the tourists to embrace forever.
The luxury train now possesses several new features which include upholstered furniture, renovated rooms, elegant draperies and renovated bathrooms, cutlery and crockery of renowned international brands along with an impeccable range of linen. It has also introduced a new range of in-room entertainment with Smart TVs; WIFI enabled subscriptions that include Netflix, Prime, Hot star etc. CCTV Cameras plus Fire Alarm System have been added for more enhanced safety.
During this coronavirus pandemic, IRCTC has fulfilled all the anticipations required as per GOI’s protocols also laid down Standard Operating Protocols for the crew to assure the highest protection for the tourists.
