India-China Standoff: Indian Occupies 6 Major Heights

The Indian Army has occupied six new major hill features along the Line of Actual Control over the past three weeks, the news reported. This gives Indian troops an edge over Chinese soldiers in this region.

Between August 29 till the second week of September the Indian Army has successfully occupied six new hills. The hill features conquered by Indian troops comprises the Gurung Hill, Magar hill, Rezang La, Recehen La, Mokhpari and the dominating height over Chinese positions near Finger 4. These have definitely given the Indian soldiers an upper hand over Chinese troops in these areas, and sources said that these were lying inoperative. 

Helmet Top, Black Top hill features remains on the Chinese side

The hill features occupied by the Indian Army are on the Indian territory of the LAC whereas the sources informed that the Helmet top and Black top are on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control. There were firing of bullets in the air while occupying the hills from the Pangong’s northern bank to the southern bank of the lake.

China initiates Moldo Garrison 

The Chinese Army had deployed around 3000 troops close to the Rechen La and Rezang La hills which includes armoured as well as infantry troops. The Moldo garrison of the Chinese Army has also been wholly initiated with new troops by the PLA in the past one month.

India has decided not to use weapons in the course of clashes with China after the Galwan Valley where twenty Indian Army soldiers were killed in a clash including a colonel with Chinese forces on June 15. The most massive military confrontation in over five decades that had significantly intensified the unstable border standoff in the region. Since then the soldiers of both the nations are in rifle range at four positions at Pangong Lake in Eastern Ladakh.
