The Trend of the Bollywood fraternity picking the best scripts from the South Indians doesn’t seem to halt. The newest edition to the practice is the Hindi adaptation of ‘Kolamavu Kokila’. The daughter of veteran lady superstar, Sridevi, Jahnvi Kapoor will be reprising the role that was played by Nayanatara in the original. The film happens to be a black comedy, crime film that kept the audience hooked to their chairs - one, because of Nayanatara’s tremendous performance and two, the direction and screenplay of the film.
The Original was directed by Nelson Dilip Kumar and produced by Lyca Productions. The Hindi adaptation of the film will be directed by Siddharth Sengupta. Jahnvi Kapoor will be flying to Punjab to start the shoot of the film. The schedule begins from 9th January and the budding actor has already prepped and understood the demands of the role. With the current COVID conditions, she will most likely be shooting in a bio bubble and the actress seems to not have an issue with that.
The team has said that the film will be shot in 45 days at most and it won’t be a frame to frame copy of the original like many are assuming it to be. The story will see quite a few changes but the gist will remain to be close to the Tamil film. In this movie, Jahnvi Kapoor will appear in a look that is too simple and subtle. She won’t be donning heavy makeup and will stick to costumes that any middle class girl will be wearing.
She will initially have a normal and free life but an incident will create a turbulence that the female lead has to overcome. How she tackles with circumstances and saves her family becomes the main heart of the story. This is a tad bit different from the look of Nayanatara in Kolamavu Kokila. It is also not the first time for Jahnvi Kapoor to indulge in a role that is close to the middle class community. Her first film, Dhadak, had her appear in similar costumes and set-up so it will be a treat to see how she will carry this new character.
