In an attempt to have bureaucrats in the local bodies and state-run corporations, the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray has transferred 13 highly efficient IAS officers to different sectors.

The official procedures for the transfers were released on Friday and the associated work is being done in complete swing. Some of the IAS officials that were transferred include – Ashwini Kumar, IAS from the 1987 batch, has been appointed as the Managing Director of Maharashtra State Financial Corporation, Mumbai. N Nawin Sona from the 2000 IAS batch has been chosen to Member Secretary, Rest of Maharashtra Statutory Board, Mumbai.

Joining the two are other IAS officers like – A S Ranga Naik of the 2009 batch who has been appointed as the Joint Chief Executive Officer, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, Mumbai. M B Warbhuwan of the 2010 batch will be taking over as the Joint Secretary, General Administration Department in the Mantralaya. A B Unhale of the 2004 batch has started his new duty as the Managing Director at Maharashtra State Cotton Growers Marketing Federation, Mumbai.

The new appointments will serve as an interesting challenge for those IAS officers taking up new roles and the ones with experience will be able to do more justice to the positions. This is a carefully made decision to see development in the corporations and local bodies that should work vigorously to serve the people of Maharashtra in the right way.

D.B Halde of the 2010 IAS batch will be the new Director of Other Backward Bahujan Welfare, Pune. Shanmugrajan of the 2013 batch will be taking over as the new Collector of Washim. Bhuvaneshwart S of the 2017 batch is appointed as CEO, Smart City, Nagpur, and Bhagyshree of the 2017 batch will be the CEO of Zilla Parishad, Buldhana.

These IAS officials will be looking forward to new avenues but on the other hand, Uddhav Thackeray has also approved the disciplinary action against the IAS official, Kumar, who happened to use derogatory words in a Whatsapp group against fellow officials.
