Former Cricketer and British Cricket Commentator, Nasser Hussain said that Baber Azam, a Pakistani Cricketer should be rated just like the ‘Fab Four’ including- Kane Williamson, Virat Kohli, Joe Root, and Steve Smith. He said that if a cricketer like Baber Azam is not honored with what he deserves, it’s a ‘real shame.’
He continued and said that it is all because Pakistan is a disadvantaged cricketing country.
While on the Sky Sports Mid-Match Analysis Show, Hussain said- “Now if this was (Virat) Kohli, everyone would be talking, but as it’s Babar Azam, no one is talking. He averages 68 since 2018 & 55 in white-ball cricket. He’s young, he’s elegant & he’s got swagger. They talk about the Fab 4 (Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, Joe Root), but it’s the Fab 5 & Babar is in that,” Source: Indian Express.
Further, he added- “It’s a real shame & is in part a consequence of Pakistan playing away from home, playing in UAE in front of no one, Pakistan being in the shadow of Indian cricket, not going over and playing IPL and not playing against India, it’s all of that,” Source: Indian Express.
Hussain said that England’s bowlers performed rubbishy in the later half of the 1st Test in Manchester. In the next statement, he compared the performance of England’s bowlers and Baber Azam and called him a real gem of the day.
Commenting on the Pakistani player’s unbeatable 69, Nasser said it’s quite unfortunate that not enough people are going to celebrate this hard knock. Further, he made some comments on Pakistan being a non-cricketing country.
Shifting his focus back to the England players, Hussain said that James Anderson looked displeased on the field, and the English attack strategy was ‘rubbish’ to get off Baber Azam.
