Former President of the United States, Barack Obama, who remains the widely popular Democratic voter, gave a speech and referred to it as a personal endorsement of Joe Biden for Presidency.
On Wednesday, Mr. Obama assailed his successor, President Trump, as unfit for the position.
During the third night of the Democratic National Convention, Mr. Obama said- “He’s shown no interest in putting in the work; no interest in finding common ground; no interest in using the awesome power of his office to help anyone but himself and his friends; no interest in treating the presidency as anything but one more reality show that he can use to get the attention he craves,” Source: NDTV.
As he avoided making harsh and direct comments on Donald Trump’s term, the withering broadside from Obama came out as a harsh appraisal of a President to another.
Further, continuing his speech, Obama blamed President Trump for more than 170,000 Americans who have recently lost their lives due to novel coronavirus and for those millions who lost their jobs during the pandemic. He said that the wrong decision had led the country to the diminishment of democratic principles within the nation and abroad.
His statements referring to Trump as incapable of meeting the presidency demands looked like a reflection of his wife’s recent comments made on Monday. Michelle Obama said that Donald Trump “simply cannot be who we need him to be.” Source: NDTV.
Mr. Obama added- “Donald Trump hasn’t grown into the job because he can’t,” Source: NDTV.
“And the consequences of that failure are severe”, he added. Source: NDTV.
While giving remarks on Joe Biden, Obama said- “For eight years, Joe was the last one in the room whenever I faced a big decision. He made me a better president – and he’s got the character and the experience to make us a better country.” Source: NDTV.
