The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, took to Twitter to announce that he will be addressing the people of the country on Tuesday, Oct 20th at 6 PM. The last time he has spoken to the people was in the month of September regarding the COVID condition and other reforms of the country.
“Will be sharing a message with my fellow citizens at 6 PM this evening” His tweet read.
While he did not mention what the addressing will be about, the popular guess is that the PM will be updating about the current COVID 19 situation in the country. The number of cases reported remained less than 50,000 (46,790) on Tuesday, 20th October, and this happens to be a low count in 3 months and a point that deserves a happy applaud. 587 deaths were registered in the last 24 hours and 67 lakh people have recovered from the infection. This has taken the country’s recovery percentage to an impressive 88.63%. However, 1,15,197 deaths took place because of the prevailing pandemic, and the life loss, though reduced in number now, might not decrease and disappear for a while. The festive season is another issue that might aggravate the community transfer of the infection. Different states are taking strict measures to prevent social gatherings and crowds in public places.
A large margin of people still place their doubts in the number of tests being made but it’s hard to deny that these numbers are a breath of fresh air and an unexpected advantage. The normal life has resumed in the country and the common man seems to have adjusted to the ‘New Normal’. Well, the people will have to wait for a few hours to know what the PM has to say about the decline and the future scenario.
