Again President Trump Highlights Hydroxychloroquine

The President of the United States has again defended the usage of hydroxychloroquine to fight back COVID-19. Continuing his thoughts on this drug usage, he said that hydroxychloroquine was rejected only after he recommended it. 

On Tuesday, the President of the United States held a press conference at the White House and said- “When I recommend something, they like to say ‘don’t use it.” Source: BBC. 

Trump gave these reviews after Donald Trump Jr Twitter account was suspended for 12 hours. This happened soon after Donald Trump Jr posted a video talking about the usage of hydroxychloroquine. 

On the other hand, medical experts continue to claim that malaria medicine is of no use for COVID-19 treatments; instead, it may trigger some heart issues. 

Giving an official statement on the usage of hydroxychloroquine, last month, FDA (the US Food and Drug Administration) came forward and cautioned the use of hydroxychloroquine for coronavirus treatments. FDA exposed a few medical reports stating the medicine can give “serious heart rhythm problems.” Source: BBC.

On Tuesday, Trump gave a statement and said- “I can only say that from my standpoint, and based on a lot of reading and a lot of knowledge about it, I think it could have a very positive impact in the early stages. I don’t think you lose anything by doing it; other than politically, it doesn’t seem too popular.” Source: BBC. 

Giving his personal remarks on the video posted by Donald Trump Jr, the President said- “I think they’re very respected doctors. There was a woman who was spectacular in her statements about it.” Source: BBC. 

The video became such an issue that Simone Gold, the Founder of America’s Frontline Doctors’ accused different social media channels of censorship for deleting the videos speaking about hydroxychloroquine.
