The Former President of BCCI, N Srinivasan, is a bit annoyed at the manner in which his statements have been taken completely out of context. To clear it all, recently he came forward and shared his views on CSK cricket player Suresh Raina.
Srinivasan said- Raina’s “contribution to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise is second to none and it is unfortunate that people are trying to put two and two together to drive a wedge”. Source: Times of India.
While speaking to the Times of India on Monday, Srinivasan said – “his (Raina’s) contribution to the CSK franchise has been phenomenal through the years”. Source: Times of India.
He said that he is a firm believer of a view that “it is important to understand what Suresh is going through right now and give him space”. Source: Times of India.
Last week, Raina’s relatives were attacked, and one of the members from the family has been shot dead by goons while others are still battling with life in hospitals. The reasons for the attack are still unknown.
By the time CSK picked Raina at the inaugural of IPL in 2008, he has been referred to as “Chennai Boy” and has earned a nickname “Chinna Thala” (second in command) to “Thala” (leader) CSK skipper, MS Dhoni.
Further, Srinivasan clarified that – “These boys, they’re family. They’ve been family for over a decade now. When I said ‘cricketers are like prima donnas’, it wasn’t in a negative sense. A prima donna is a lead singer in an opera. Similarly, cricketers are always at the forefront of an exercise like this,” Source: Times of India.
