The Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan, 74 years old passes away on Thursday, who is one of the most notable Dalit leaders of the nation and a part of various governments managed by rival parties. 

Lok Janshakti Party sources stated the union minister’s mortal remains would be taken to his Janpath residence in Delhi first on October 9. Then it will be flown to Patna at 2 PM and will be kept at Lok Janshakti Party’s office, where his fans and followers can pay him their last reverence. 

The funeral will take place in Patna on October 10.

There has been a condolence meeting of the Union Cabinet that took place on Friday to express over the minister’s passing away.

The Union Home Ministry has declared that the national flag will fly at half-mast in Delhi as well as capitals of all states including union territories on Friday as a mark of respect to Ram Vilas Paswan. Union minister will accord a state funeral as well.

The Union Minister had long suffered from a heart condition. According to the Fortis Escorts Heart Institute statement, he was admitted with heart failure, and his kidney shut down and deteriorated to dialysis. Later he was on a ventilator and ECMO care for worsening heart and lungs conditions and also underwent surgery.

Since 1989, he has headed many parties of contrasting ideological persuasions, ranging from the Janata Dal to the Congress and the BJP as he was a minister in central governments. Whoever might be his associate, he held pride in representing himself as a secular politician and socialist by belief.

He toiled as a minister in governments managed by Manmohan Singh, V P Singh, I K Gujaral, H D Deve Gowda, Atal Bihar Vajpayee and presently Narendra Modi.
