For a long time, there were rumors that Bollywood’s big upcoming movies ‘Sooryavanshi’ and ‘83’ will be released on OTT channels after witnessing the long-going pandemic. But recently, Reliance Entertainment has come forward and waved off the rumors saying that producers will wait for Diwali and Christmas to hit the big screens.
Sooryavanshi and 83 starring Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh are big-budget films that have been waiting to be released since March this year.
In this regard, Reliance Entertainment wrote a tweet- “We are very confident that the ongoing theatrical exhibition situation will improve much in time for the release of our awaited films, Sooryavanshi and 83, this Diwali and Christmas, respectively,” Source: Twitter.
Meanwhile, Sihibasish said- “We are 100% inclined to take the theatrical route. However, at the same time, we don’t want to delay the release further than practically possible. That means we will not like to push release dates beyond Diwali / Christmas. So the first option is to go theatrical if cinemas open up and audiences are back.” Source: India.com.
The reason why producers have decided to wait for the big screens to open once again is the budget of the movies, which is quite high to put it at risk.
Sooryavanshi is a sequel of superhit Bollywood movie Singham whereas 83 is a biopic of former Indian skipper Kapil Dev. The report says the movie has been picturized all around India winning the world cup in 1983 for the first time.
Apart from Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh, these big-budget movies have other stars, including- Ajay Devgn, Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh, Gulshan Grover, Sikander, Niharica Raizada, Jackie Shroff, and Deepika Padukone in 83.
