Bandipora BPJ Leader Killed by Terrorists

In the late hours of Wednesday, terrorists entered Waseem Bari, BJP’s Bandipora head’s house, and started firing. In this incident, Waseem, his brother, and father were killed on the spot. Bandipora is one of the districts from 22 districts in Jammu and Kashmir. This region is the administrative headquarters of the district.

This has been seen as the biggest attack on a senior politician after the null and void of Article 370 in 2019.

Waseem Bari, 38, his brother Umar Sheikh, 30, and father Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, 62, were staying at their 2-storey house, which was hardly 30 meters away from the local police station. On the distance of 600 meters, the residents of the district police chief and deputy commissioner were located.

On this matter, a Senior Bandipora Medical Official told Times of India- “All three have firearm injuries in the head. There are injuries in other parts of the body as well. We have handed over the bodies to the police,” Source: Times of India.

The BJP chief was given the security cover of eight armed policemen. However, reports say that no policeman was present at the spot when the terrorists entered the house. The incident took place at 8:30 P.M approximately.

Further, the local police authorities said that the eight policemen had been suspended immediately and an investigation has been started on the reason for their absence from the spot.

A Jammu and Kashmir Police Officer said- “We are trying to find why none of the eight cops were present. Further action is being discussed with the Bandipora Police,” Source: Times of India.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, inquired about the matter over the telephone and gave condolences to the chief’s family members.
