On Sunday, the American authorities announced an emergency approval of blood plasma received from recovered COVID-19 patients as a reliable treatment to fight back this deadly virus.

Corona has killed more than 176,000 people in the US so far.

As President Donald Trump faces severe pressure from different sectors to stabilize the economy, the Food and Drug Administration of the United States has come forward to declare a resolution recently taken under the Trump administration’s supervision.

To announce this, FDA released a statement stating- “This product may be effective in treating COVID-19 and… the known and potential benefits of the product outweigh the known and potential risks of the product,” Source: NDTV.

While this practice has already been used on several coronavirus patients throughout the United States, there are many practitioners who still debate over the effectiveness of plasma therapy for corona patients.

A Pulmonary Specialist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, Len Horovitz said- “Convalescent plasma probably works — though it still needs to be proven in clinical trials — but not as a rescue treatment for people who are already severely ill,” Source: NDTV.

Further, he said that plasma would work well on a patient but only when the individual is just exposed to the virus. In other words, it will show promising results when the body is trying to neutralize the impact of infection.

On this, earlier Sunday morning, the US media shared a news report that President Trump will be announcing the emergency authorization at a press conference soon, but when the same was confirmed from the White House authorities, they declined to make remarks on the plans of President Trump on this matter.
