Everyone has been waiting for the first debate of the general election across the country. President Donald Trump and former vice-president Joe Biden went head to head on the opportunity to appeal to the undecided voters in the states. They covered a lot of areas explaining policies, vision for the country, health care system and many more.

They quarrelled over their opinions on who should elect the next Supreme Court justice, their stands on health care and also brought each other’s families into the conflict. Moderator Chris Wallace of Fox News grappled with reining in the candidates and at times warned Trump as interfering more often than Biden.

Here are some of the most memorable debate moments:

‘Will you shut up, man?’

There was a tense moment while discussing health care when Trump kept continuously interfering which propelled Biden to ask him to “shut up” . Trump has accused Biden of trying to abolish private healthcare and working towards expanding Obamacare. He also said Biden was more of a socialist.

‘I’m not elected for three years, I’m elected for four years’

Wallace asked both the candidates to explain their views on when and who should fill the seat vacated after the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Trump claims that he is entitled to nominate Amy Coney Barrett as he is the elected president at the moment. Whereas Biden said, the winner of the election should get the right to appoint. And if Barrett becomes the next judge, then the court may have to strike down the health care law.

‘Did you just use the word smart?’ and other personal attacks

Biden pointed to the coronavirus death toll in the country which is a result of the president’s negligence and in this context, he stated that if Trump was a bit smarter and quicker, this could have been controlled.

Trump got furious and said” Did you use the word smart?”, later he went on pointing out Joe Biden’s academic records and commenting on his intelligence.
